Why there are two doors
And why they both open the same way.
Northwest Georgia is a place people leave to get things done. You drive to Atlanta for the good doctor, the good dress, the good anything. Somewhere along the way that turned into a belief about ourselves — that the careful version of a thing lives somewhere else, and what's here will do.
We disagreed with that. Not loudly, and not in a manifesto — just by opening a room where the work is slow and the towels are warm and nobody looks at the clock over your shoulder. Then, when that room filled up, by opening a second one thirty minutes north with a different temperature.
You shouldn't have to leave town to be treated like you matter.
Rome is the fashion house. It's the room you come to before something — a wedding, a season, a Friday you've decided is going to count. You bring a picture, we match it, and the point is that somebody notices.
Calhoun is the wellness house. Same hands, same standards, tuned down a register. Nobody there is getting you ready for anything. The hour is the whole point, and it belongs to you.
What the two rooms share is the part we actually built the business on, and it isn't the polish. It's the note we keep on your shape. The shade you liked in October. The fact that your daughter's prom is the second weekend in April, so you should book the week before, not the day of. Being known is the luxury. The nails are how we practice it.
We also decided early that the price goes on the wall and gets said out loud before anyone picks up a file. It's a small thing that turns out not to be small. A room that surprises you at the register is telling you what it thinks of you, whatever the sign out front says.
There'll be more rooms. A cafe first, because a good cup of coffee is the same promise in a different cup — somebody who remembers how you take it. The name over the door will stay the same, and so will the habit underneath it.
